We are in Edmonton

Hi All
We had a busy several weeks, but here is the skinny. Last day in Cuenca, we went to a mexican resturant (fab) and were walking down the street only to be invited into this wonderful persons gallery. His name is Gustov and is a terrific artist and person. He gave us a tour of his and his friends colorful and creative paintings mostly abstracts, and the gave us a tour of his sons designer clothing store. Fantastic. Then to our delight , we found some street dancers and watched for quite a while.
The next day, we packed up and left for Guyaquil at 5 in the friggin' morning and an hour or to out of Guyaquil . There were issues again with the roads. Another rock slide. OK, there were three rocks on the road. The largest about the size of a small house. After about 2 hours they could finally move one of the three and got the busses through.
Enter the heat, the muggy heat of Guyaquil. Stiffling, but it is a beautiful city and they are trying to get the arts happening.
The malicon (spelling is really wrong) is great and is a must see.
At 11:00 at night we left much to our dismay. End of TRIP???????????????? No way.
We landed and were very tire and were house sitting for a friend, sat in their living room and missed Ecuador. After 2 days of trying to find a place to rent for 6 months we came to the easy decision of going back...buying a house and living. So now, we are visiting my family in Edmonton with snow outside. We figure we will go there for a year or so before we come back. Did I tell you that when we arrived there was snow in Vernon and Kelowna too. Nice hey! When ever I come to Edmonton it is usually the worst something in a century. I have experienced the Worst snows in a century, and also the worst mosquitoes. The list grows if I ponder it so I will not go there as it just depresses me. We will go and visit Rob's mommy too, then we will home sit for friends, in our old town of Enderby on a farm and feed chickens and cows and the dog can roll in cow poo till she can't stand it any more. Then we will leave again, wash the dog and go to Ecuador.
We are having a bit of a challenge getting the dog to Ecuador. All the airlines want to her to go to stand by only and if there is room then she will join us we would have to wait for her in Quito and if she doesn't get on pay for kennel fees till she does get on. There is more yet to hash through with her. But we will figure it our as we know we can manifest a great time with her for an easy passage.
Talk with you all later
Robin
