The first Blog by Computer illierate artist

Okey Dokey, here we are in my blog and yes ultimately you are visiting my mind. Welcome!
My family and I are selling our home and preparing to travel and have the children navigate to where that famous place is: "South". How far is South, where is South and if we got carried away would we eventually be North. We as a collective group called a family, we are open to the fact that this could take a while. If you saw the Rex Harrison movie of "Dr.Dolittle", you'll understand when I say that it is a little bit that way and over to the right abit and we should meet up with it definitely maybe over there.
My husband and I checked in with the kids to see where they were, in terms of leaving. The youngest said,"Will we be together". We, of course, said yes.(Though it was tempting to tease him, it would financially cost us when we had to pay for the psychiatry later). The teen daughter was a different matter, we had to tempt her by showing her that there would be very charming latin boys on the beach.(We conveniently left out that her father would be on the same said beach with a great big stick and as a good mother I would definitely be talking with their mothers. Power to the Maternal Force!).
So, now we have the actual "FOR SALE" sign perched on the side of the road, tempting all who drive by. I have to say every now and then I feel a twang of hesitation about selling everything and leaving, and then it is quickly, and thankfully replaced by the excitement of our great adventure. And to quote again the great Dr. Dolittle, we will not be calling out travelling vessel the flounder!!!! We have decided to plan this venture a little bit, so we are deciding how to travel and by which means. The salesman who was selling RV's said that no matter what, for a trip this big we would be making the wrong choice anyway because on journey's of this length, it becomes very individual and hard to calulate all our potential needs. We being hearty, courageous and non-conformous people are not brought down by this message, in fact, we are ready for the process, Bring it on. These are the criteria today: we love meeting and conversing with people not isolating ourselves in a tourist trap hotel, we love and enjoy the amazing vistas along the journey, we need space for me to paint and store my paint junk and give a safety diameter to a hormonal teenager.(She's great really, I am exaggerating just a bit.), we are trying to raw food it so preparing food is not about cooking but cutting and processing and access to fresh vegies. (I hear there are several raw food festivals we can enjoy on the way and we want to hit them too (both to eat and to display the art.) oh yeah sleeping is important and so is reliability. Since my partner and I are tall people, we have spawned tall people, our 14 daughter is as tall as I am, 6 feet. We just can't fit a person of this size into a cupboard, even if she wants to read without other people interupting her. I have an admission to make as well, we will absolutley require a sound proof booth for when I drive as I express my inner frustrations and anxieties in much the same way as an Italian taxi driver, in Italy, driving in rush hour with a pregnant woman in the back seat, with the baby crowning and making a mess on the freshly cleaned upholstry, YIKES. The children and Rob have requested a buffer for sanity, meditative and prayer purposes. I am sure I will have more criteria soon, and of course on the road too.
For now, we are in pergatory waiting till our house sells. We are finding homes for all our things, some even found home in the dump and recycle depot. It is amazing what we insulate lives with, and what we really don't need. I, myself have given away so much to people who need those things far more than I ever would, it is very liberating, I recommend cleaning house like this once a year anyway. I had two artist friends whom loaded up their van and car full. I have been blessed with when I asked it was given.....abundantly. I gave these things away with the condition that if other people required something and it was amongst what I gave them, it would be given. They went back to their studio and went through it, found things for themselves, and found other homes for the art supplies. Then a female police officer ask what their were doing, (it must have look like they have successfully bumped off the local art store and were in a frency of their success) they told her the happenings and said they had a surplus of childrens art supplies and didn't quite know where it would do the most good according to the conditions I gave and their own enthusiam to be able to do good (and distract the police officer from a parking ticket). As destiny is great and wonderful, she was driving to the safe house for children and they were requiring these art supplies in their therapy. Isn't life grand! Everyone was happy to be apart of the process, and I have cleaned my studio.
Thanks for your time and be kind to some one today.
